Purpose:

The purpose of this role is to develop and support the Bluesky Mapshop using .Net languages. The Bluesky Mapshop is an ecommerce website delivering GIS data in a variety of formats, with many bespoke elements including user uploaded boundary files, automatic email notifications and customised Invoicing options. The role also includes other software development within the business as required, which will usually include a geospatial/mapping element. Reporting into the Web and Design Manager you will have .Net experience as well as AWS experience and preferably some experience of the geospatial sector.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop solutions for the Bluesky Mapshop using a variety of languages including .NET.

  • Develop/enhance your geospatial software development skills

  • Deliver stable, efficient, and scalable solutions, on time.

  • Develop, test, document, and implement solutions for our Mapshop.

  • Support, maintain, and document software functionality.

  • Interpret written requirements and technical specification documents.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience with:

  • .NET languages (C#, VB.NET, ASP.NET/ MVC, .Net Core)

  • C#/Razor ASP.NET MVC Website

  • Javascript/HTML/CSS

  • C# .NET WinForms/Console

  • 5+ years of relevant, real-world development experience

  • Knowledge and experience of AWS

  • Ideally some demonstrable experience of developing software using GIS technology, including Global Mapper SDK.

  • Knowledge of geospatial and mapping concepts utilizing spatial analysis and map projections is preferred

  • Strong understanding of relational database design and Microsoft SQL

  • Strong problem-solving skills
