Bluesky Appoints Jamieson to Drive Innovation in Aerial Mapping Production

September 25, 2019

Aerial mapping company Bluesky has appointed Allan Jamieson to the newly created position of Operations Manager. A well respected geomatics professional, Jamieson brings more than twenty-five years’ experience to the role. He is also a member of the Geomatics Professional Group Board at the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) promoting geomatics within the land sector around the world.

Reporting directly to the board Jamieson will be responsible for the successful delivery of a range of geographic data projects including 3D modelling, aerial photography and the newly launched MetroVista city mapping service.

“We are delighted to welcome Allan to the senior management team and we are invigorated by the experience and expertise he brings to this role,” commented Rachel Tidmarsh, Managing Director of Bluesky International. “We are confident that his skills will drive standards and innovation across our product range and service delivery.”

“This is a truly exciting time to be joining Bluesky as they continue to invest in cutting edge technology such as the CityMapper sensor used to deliver the MetroVista mapping service,” added Allan Jamieson. “It is also a time of expansion not only in the Bluesky product range but also in the geographical scope of the company’s operation with activities spanning three continents.”

Jamieson joined Bluesky from Cyient (formerly Infotech Enterprises). Having previously held the position of Operations Director at Blom Aerofilms, with responsibility for day to day operations including all aspects of data capture, processing and delivery, he continued in this role when the company was acquired by Cyient in 2016.

Prior to his final position at Blom/Cyient, Jamieson was employed as a Geomatics Team Leader at URS. Following the acquisition of URS by the American multinational AECOM, Jamieson rose to the position of Associate Director where he secured the provision of a geomatics service within the UK.

Jamieson started his geomatics career as a cartographer and photogrammetrist before originally joining Blom Aerofilms as Project Manager in 1996, a position he held for eighteen years.
