Bluesky is looking to recruit a talented IT Support Assistant to join us on a full-time basis at our head office in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire. The successful individual will help with the IT infrastructure, both hardware and software, to continue our provision of world class geospatial data acquisition and processing. You will be working with the latest cutting-edge geospatial technology in both hardware and software and have an opportunity to really make your mark. 

 

Purpose:

This exciting and challenging role is to work alongside the IT Manager to aid with the implementation and support of IT infrastructure in our headquarters and offices around the world. 

 

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities for the position of IT Support Assistant include, but are not limited to: 

  • Assist the IT Manager as directed 

  • Provide IT support, through different mediums, to internal and external users. 

  • Investigate problems, determine possible solutions and provide suitable resolutions. 

  • The installation, configuration and decommissioning of IT related equipment. 

  • Ensuring all requests are logged and maintained on the company Service Desk software. 

  • Prioritise work and action all service requests in a timely manner. 

  • Create documentation to assist users and support the IT systems. 

  • Keep an up-to-date inventory of computer hardware on the company asset database. 

  • Reviewing and updating working templates, supporting new IT implementations. 

  • Undertake additional ad-hoc tasks as and when required. 

Requirements:

Applicants need to have strong organisational skills, an attention to detail and well-developed interpersonal skills. They must be able to demonstrate the ability to work to deadlines and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. In addition to this all applicants will need to be eligible to work in the UK and communicate fully in English. 

The following experience or understanding, whilst not essential, will be beneficial: 

  • Microsoft Windows Desktop and Server operating systems. 

  • Microsoft Office 365 and desktop Office applications. 

  • An understanding of networks. 

  • Active Directory, DHCP, DNS and Group Policy. 

  • Network devices such as printers and scanners. 

  • Remote working facilities and virtual private networks. 

  • Awareness of IT security, firewalls and antivirus. 

  • SQL based databases (MSSQL, MySQL, PostGRES). 

  • A passion for Information Technology and its continuing developments 

Qualifications: 

  • Good A Levels or equivalent. A degree is desirable.
