Data Acquisition

As a leading provider of aerial photography, Bluesky is able to offer you a bespoke airborne data acquisition service, not just in the UK and Europe, but globally. A variety of sensors are available for:

The data acquisition is usually only the first stage of any project; Bluesky's experienced team offer you an end-to-end solution, from planning right through to application in your GIS or other software.

Aerial Photography

As this is the core to our business we have successfully completed many varied aerial photography projects throughout the world, from coastal and tidal studies to large scale photography for specialist engineering use.

In order to maintain the GeoPerspectives dataset as the most accurate and recent aerial photographic dataset available we employ cutting edge digital camera technology.

The GeoPerspectives aerial photography is captured using two of the most advanced digital aerial camera systems available, Vexcel's UltraCamD and Leica's ADS40, with the Vexcel UltraCamX coming online in 2007. Both systems capture data in very different ways, but both offer unsurpassed detail and accuracy. Both camera systems collect a colour infrared image as well as RGB and Panchromatic. The enhanced geometry of the digital systems improves the extraction of height information, such as surface models and building heights; all of these products are available in the GeoPerspectives range.

Cameras

The UltraCam is a large format frame based digital camera with a 9 micron CCD array which produces images of 11500 by 7500 pixels. The Vexcel camera has improved radiometry as compared with film which allows more flying days and better overall imagery. The UltraCam is used in the acquisition of our high resolution photography which is part of GeoPerspectives product range.

The Leica ADS40 operates in a very different way in that it is a line scanner (or push broom sensor) rather than a frame camera. It collects the imagery one row of pixels at a time and builds up a strip of imagery along the flight path in large swathes at a time. Again the digital clarity of the image is superior to that of analogue film cameras, and is used to build up the base 25cm layer of the GeoPerspectives product suite.

Colour Infrared

As concerns for the environment grow, colour infrared photography offers us a wealth of information on the health and state of the vegetation. Used in conjunction with other geo-spatial data it can assist us to make informed decisions. For more information on the applications of colour infrared photography please call us.

During the capture of the GeoPerspectives aerial photography with the Vexcel UltraCamD and the Leica ADS40, a colour infrared image is acquired simultaneously.
