Bluesky's Wind Farm Planning Visuals are ground based photos that have been enhanced with the addition of proposed wind turbines, either individually or as part of a "wind farm". The purpose of these photos is to demonstrate the visual impact of a proposed turbine development on the environment. The numbers of these turbines on our landscape is set to increase significantly over the next few years, and we need to ensure that we put them in the correct place. This product allows us to see a development before permission is even given. They have proved crucial in the planning application process of several wind turbine developments.
The turbines themselves are added to the photo in the exact position and at the correct scale. This is calculated using GPS when the photo is taken and complex perspective calculations. The actual wind turbine depicted will be the exact turbine that is proposed, we have a photo stock of almost every type of turbine. This product is also used for the planning of mobile communication masts.
It is a very low cost method of showing both the planners and the public how a development will look. Eventually planners will come to expect this sort of demonstration for a proposed wind farm. Bluesky will organise the acquisition of the photos (usually 6 to 8 taken from different directions looking towards the site), the calculation of the relative heights of the wind turbines and the final photo enhancement.
Every wind farm development should have the turbines displayed in a Wind Farm Visual.
