Digital Elevation Models

Bluesky offers you a range of DEM data of the UK, suitable for most 3d applications. This gridded data can include just the terrain or the terrain and the surface features such as buildings and trees. The data can be accurate up to 15cm and as dense as 1m grid spacing (i.e. a height measurement every 1m). It has been collected and created using a combination of traditional and state-of-the-art techniques. Click on the image below for more information on each of the datasets offered by Bluesky.

The underlying format is an ASCII XYZ file (plain text file); however, data can be supplied in a variety of formats including DXF, ARC ASCII Grid, DGN, 3d Studio MAX, GeoTIFF and ERDAS (for the more advanced users). Data can be supplied at a larger grid spacing (subsampled) if the high density is not required. Metadata is also available for each point; this could be other information such as date of acquisition, method of acquisition, copyright owner, etc. as well as the X, Y and Z positions.
