University trials new GIS

The Customer:

University of Leicester’s G-STEP program (GMES-Space Technology Exchange Partnership)

The Project:

The research team at Leicester Universities G-STEP program required an easy to use, low cost GIS and image processing software solution to use alongside their existing ESRI ArcGIS software. There was a requirement for the software to import and export many formats, have digitising capabilities and the capacity to analyse 3D data.

The Solution:

Bluesky provided a single user licence Global Mapper, which is low cost and provided all the functionality required, and much more.

The Feedback:

“for the price this software is fantastic. It does everything we require and is easy for a non-GIS user to pick up. It is saves huge amount of time in loading and analysing large data sets especially the satellite data. And the geo-processing tool is exceptional for handling data with different coordinate system. We use it process, analyse and demonstrate various raster and vector datasets. The idea was to use it when our existing ESRI licences were being used, but I can see it being used much more than that.” Kavitha Muthu, G-STEP Earth Observation Specialist.
