Planning permission for wind farms

The Customer:

The Project:

The customer is a specialist company that obtains planning permission for wind farms for third parties. These are often the land owner, farmers, for example. The customer knew that “a picture paints a thousand words”, and so wanted to present to each planning office and public enquiry a set of computer enhanced static images that showed the proposed wind turbine development from various angles with every application.

The Solution:

Bluesky produced the sets of images as requested using ground photography taken from preset positions looking towards the direction of the proposed site. GPS was also used for positioning the photos. Using specialist software back in the office these images were then enhanced to show the correct type of turbine proposed at the correct scale. The resulting photos are very impressive and have been used to secure permission for several wind farms.

The Feedback:

“The static Wind Farm images show just what we need them to; that often these turbines do not have such an impact on the environment as might be expected, as we show the wins farm to scale. They certainly help to get the message over during a public enquiry.”
