The Customer:
A wide variety from private individuals to solicitors, law firms and local authorities.
The Project:
Many legal disputes are about where things used to be, (a fence for example), or where things did not exist (a house extension for example). For one party in a dispute to be able to unequivocally prove something one way or the other can potentially prevent a full blown and expensive legal case.
The Solution:
Aerial photography is the ultimate in photographic evidence. Many of the features that are in dispute are often visible on historical aerial photos. Bluesky have supplied new and historical aerial photography, and advice, which has assisted in many legal disputes over the past few years. Due to legal reasons we cannot divulge too much information, but a few examples are:
· An Interpretation of aerial photography in a case in which two people were killed on the M42.
· A disputed footpath going through a fishing lake in Bedfordshire in 2006
· Identification and age of chicken coops in Oxfordshire
· Illegal removal of trees covered by tree preservation orders in Kent
· Change of Land use and clearance of land in West Sussex
· A dispute over the reduction in the size of a house in the 1950 as compared to 2010, in Hertfordshire.
· Confirmation of an illegal building extension in Essex
· The position of a re-aligned fence along a footpath in Kent
· Many boundary disputes including Lincolnshire, Suffolk, Oxfordshire, Wiltshire and Lancashire.
The Feedback:
Few of the multitudes of cases we have dealt with have gone all the way to court to date. This is often due to the weight of the evidence provided by the aerial photo, which can be difficult to dispute.
